Up in a dreamy forest, a styled shoot was born
My friend Rachel hosted a gorgeous styled shoot up in Alger & there was no way I was missing it. I love supporting my photographer friends when I can, and I am so lucky to have her be my friend in this industry.
There were 3 concepts to this shoot: an engagement session, a wedding couple, & a solo bride
Styled shoots are a great place for you to practice & try new things. To be honest, I don't try new things on a wedding day because I don't want to mess up something. Maybe I should break out of that a little bit, but for the most part with camera settings & poses I stick to what works for me. One area I really pushed myself in for this shoot was the engagement portion & flat lay details. My first year of weddings was a success, but I didn't really do engagement shoots for those couples. I shot a lot of second weddings so it wasn't a priority for my couples- which is absolutely fine but I knew I wanted to push myself to get more creative in engagement sessions.
After we were done, we sat inside, giggled, & ate that gorgeous wedding cake. A photography workshop at its finest.
Kelly & Aaron
Kelly & Aaron were so much fun to work with & were quite adventurous! When a couple is down to try anything, you can get so much more creative. They brought their fur baby, Rory, who is super cute!
Solo Bride Kristin
Kristin was gorgeous! Her dress was perfect for her personality & she was a saint for running through the woods multiple times for us all. We got so many shots of her laughing because behind the scenes her boyfriend kept catcalling her.
Rachele & Austin
Ok so this was one of my favorite parts of the shoot. Rachele & Austin eloped a while ago and never did the big white wedding thing. Rachele also never got an official wedding band. I captured their first look & it was so special. Also, Austin surprised her later in the day with a wedding band while we were shooting & it was so adorable. I didn't capture any of that (I was elsewhere) but I've seen the other girls' work and it's cry-worthy.
